“So when your eulogy is being read, with your life’s actions to rehash, would you be proud of the things they say about how you lived your dash?” -Linda Ellis
Amber Pelletier lived her dash in such a profound way which positively impacted the lives of her family, friends and the Saint Leo community. Within her 20 years of living, Amber accomplished numerous goals that would have led her to graduate from St. Leo University in May 2020. Not only was Amber a Psychology major with a minor in education, but she was also a cheerleader at St. Leo University. Rachel Hernandez, who had the privilege of being Amber’s advisor and professor, described Amber as a special gift. Amber would randomly visit Professor Hernandez’s office and talk about her upcoming senior year and things that enthralled her, such as fuzzy animals and her love for kids. An unforgettable memory that Hernandez shared about Amber was how excited she was to go home for the summer break, but she loved Professor Hernandez’s company so much that she visited her office just before leaving campus.
Likewise, one of Amber’s close friends, Nicole Pesce, senior history major, elucidated that Amber was a treasure from God. Nicole described Amber as having motherly characteristics towards her. She would ensure that Nicole was following rules and if she caught her out of line, she would text her in bold letters, “NICOLE” or make pointing gestures at her to get back on track. Nicole reflected on how she never noticed roses and butterflies consistently, but whenever she thinks about Amber, she becomes aware of beautiful roses and butterflies.
President of St. Leo University, Dr. Senese described the passing of Amber as one that is unforgettable. He also shared a personal experience where he remembered how his brother’s life ended in a car accident. Dr. Senese felt the sorrow of Amber’s family and friends and encouraged them that the Saint Leo community will always have Amber in their hearts and her family in prayers.
It was evident that Amber made profound impacts on the lives of others here on earth. She left her mark on earth and will always remain in the hearts of her family, friends and the Saint Leo community.
