How Sweet the Sound

With students and faculty returning from the break, the Saint Leo campus is once again filled with sound. On Jan. 15, the Benedictine Sisters kicked off the semester with a special concert held in the Holy Name Monastery.

The monthly Music at the Monastery concert saw an awe-inspiring turnout. The melodic Tickled Pink Quartet kept numerous guests entertained with songs such as “Just A Closer Walk with Thee” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth, And Let It Begin with Me.”

Prioress Sister Roberta Bailey when asked about the inspiration and purpose of the Music at the Monastery concert states, “It was our early awareness of the wonderful acoustics in our new chapel that prompted the Sisters to begin the series of concerts. The intent was to share our new monastery with people who otherwise would not know we are here in Saint Leo.”

She further goes on to state that the response to the concert has been tremendously positive and having lived in the new monastery for three years the sisters are simply elated to share their space, mission, and social time with newly acquired friends over refreshments.

The next Music at the Monastery concert will be held on Feb 19 at 2 p.m. on the Holy Name Monastery’s grounds (directly across the road from Marmion and Snyder). The upcoming event features the talented Music Ministry of the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and interested participants are encouraged to attend.
