The first bingo of the Spring semester, here at Saint Leo, occurred Monday, Jan. 27th, 2020. This Bingo’s theme focused on school spirit, as students were encouraged to wear Saint Leo shirts or sweaters to receive two playing cards. Campus Activity Board assistant for special events, Breana Wilson, stated that “the intention for focusing on school spirit was for students to be excited about the upcoming semester.”
Students were lively and attentive throughout the entire event, entertained by the host Tamar. Additionally, Multimedia Management Senior, Andrew Young – who was also a winner hosted a game of Bingo himself, which was exciting for everyone playing and watching. Throughout the games, students were singing along to songs, dancing to songs, and to break a tie from a game, students danced or played “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!” to win the game.
Prizes at Bingo included a waterproof speaker, a Polaroid camera, a Samsung tablet, a Nintendo switch with a game to go along, Apple AirPods and even a PS4. The mystery box prize was a Saint Leo folding chair with a carrying bag to support the school spirit. That prize was won by Natalie Cruz, a Freshman majoring in Sports Business.
Gina Mejias, a junior, Professional writing major, was the winner of the night’s grand prize which was Hisense 40” Full HD, Smart TV. Mejias was extremely excited, screams “Yay!” as she had to play two rounds of “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!” against two different people as they all had a good Bingo from “Blackout” Bingo. The tension in the room was high as everyone watched to see who would finish off claiming to be this month’s Bingo winner.
January’s Bingo was exciting for everyone as students were encouraged to participate by not just playing, but by dancing and repeating different phrases together after the host. All students should be encouraged to grab their friends and participate in the Campus Activities Board’s Bingo every month to test their luck.
