On March 11, 2022, Saint Leo University’s Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority members hosted an event about Black girls caring for their natural hair. This event was a part of their 2022 Stigma Week.
On Feb. 24, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin launched military attacks on Ukraine after announcing that Russia would recognize Donetsk and Luhansk as independent republics. Donetsk and Luhansk are regions in Eastern Ukraine.
Dr. John Joseph Jr. “Jack” McTague, 77, passed away without pain at his home in Dade City, FL, on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. McTague, an Albany, NY, native, earned his Ph.D. from the University of Buffalo and spent much of his career at Saint Leo University before retiring from a full-time position to a part-time position in 2020. His impact spread far beyond the classroom.
St. Olga of Kyiv–or Kiev–is, for many, a symbol of widowhood, of a strong female leader, and of vengeance. But, for some, she is a symbol of a brutal warlord who found forgiveness in the teachings of Christ. For both Russians and Ukrainians, she is a founding figure.
In the 1990s, NATO had partnerships with Russia and Ukraine. Russia had a partnership council with NATO, and Ukraine’s partnership was called the NATO-Ukraine Commission (NUC).
With society’s perspectives changing all the time, it’s unavoidable that old and new information in places like the education system is constantly endangered of being censored by the leaders of an institution and or the government.
At Saint Leo University, many faculty members, students, and alumni are showing their solidarity as they will be traveling to the St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York to celebrate.
For those unfamiliar with the acronym, RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, the name of the process by which an adult prepares to become Catholic. RCIA is generally conducted through a parish church; however, when students began to show interest in joining Catholic Church, Saint Leo’s University Ministry saw an opportunity to step in.
Laws are typically implemented to protect the rights of people. But sometimes, laws can be unjust and favor a specific group in society. Sometimes “good people” may see the need to break a law they find immoral. So, can legality and morality be in the same boat? The short answer is no.
