During Spring Break, S.E.R.V.E. offered opportunities for students to enrich the community of Pasco County through community service and development. One location that the students of S.E.R.V.E. visited was Granma’s Hug-N-Farm which is located on 20 acres of estate between Plant City, FL and Zephyrhills, FL.
On February 21 Saint Leo University took us to Spain Restaurant and Toma Bar the heart of downtown Tampa to celebrate February’s Food for thought event. However, the poor service and cuisine did not call for much of a celebration at all.
Arizona Legislature has passed a controversial bill that would allow business owners, as long, as they assert their religious beliefs, to deny service to gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and trans-gender customers, according to CNN.
In lieu of the recent winter Olympics, the United States has claimed another “Gold Medal.” On Feb. 14, the Hennessey Venom GT claimed the world record for world’s fastest production car, theoretically speaking. The world record isn’t official because Guinness World Records rules say that Hennessey would have to make at least 30 Venom GTs to consider it a production car, but Hennessey has only planned on making 29 of them. Guinness also requires that the car go one way and then be able to come back the same way at same speed, but NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, where the car was tested, didn’t allow another run.
On Valentine’s Day “About Last Night” hit the big screens. “About Last Night” is a romantic comedy starring Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, Micheal Ealy, and Joy Bryant.
The Man Upstairs/President Business (Will Farrell) wants his Lego sets in the basement to be perfectly assembled according to the instructions and is in the process of using Krazy Glue to hold everything together permanently. His son (Jadon Sand), however, likes to mix things up a bit and make his own Lego creations.
Uganda has recently come under a lot of scrutiny in the Western world for its political views regarding homosexuality. The Anti-Homosexuality Act was signed into law by Yoweri Museveni, The President of Uganda, on Feb. 24. The act originally proposed the death penalty, coining the nickname the “Kill the Gays bill” in the media. Its penalty has since changed to a potential life in prison.
Spring break is a week of memorable experiences: going out with friends, having together time with the family, or just relaxing for a week. Usually these types of fun come with a cost; however, it does not always have to be a pricey experience. There are many alternatives that people can take to enjoy their week while remaining on a budget or staying nearby. The Dade City and Tampa Bay area have many economical places people can go and have an enjoyable experience.
Shirley Temple Black, the little girl known so well for her cute little dimples, singing, tap-dancing, 56 blonde curly locks, and professional acting has died of natural causes in her home in Woodside California at the age of 85. According her publicist Cheryl Kagen, Black was surrounded by family at the time of her death.
Living in your first apartment is like being a real person without actually becoming a real person. An apartment means independence and a new set of responsibilities. It also stands for the perfect hangout/party spot that isn’t under the careful watch out for RAs. It’s like being an adult, but better.
