Who says conventions have to be boring? Many people think a convention is just sitting at over-priced, fancy dinners, attending classes that might teach them something, and being forced to listen to a guest speaker who has nothing profound to say. Others think conventions are just for nerds dressed up in costumes. However, some conventions are both fun and educational.

Serena Williams will be competing in the Australia Open 2014 that starts this week. She is not just going for another Grand Slam title, she is going to add another mark towards becoming the “greatest women tennis player of all time”. She is 32 years old and by this time in many of her past opponents careers, they decided it was time to retire. She has previously the Australian open back in 2010, and wants to claim victory to the field yet again. The only downfall is that Williams has not competed her since due to illness and injury. From the French Open back in 2012, Williams has won 16 of the 22 tournaments she played in.

With less than three weeks remaining until the NFL draft, there is a lot of buzz surrounding Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, and for good reason. In Winston’s debut season as a redshirt sophomore in 2013, he led Florida State to their first National Championship since 1999. In doing so, Winston was also awarded the Heisman trophy; the highest honor for collegiate football players. In terms of physical ability, Jameis Winston has been rated as the best quarterback prospect to come out of college since Andrew Luck, who is now a pro-bowl signal caller for the Indianapolis Colts.
