It is officially fall; we are already weeks into the semester and midterms are right around the corner. Now, almost everyone is settled into their dorms, knows their way around campus as well as where their classes are. The next step for every student, whether you are a freshman, transfer or even a senior is to get involved in the Saint Leo Community. Getting involved on campus usually means joining clubs, organizations, Greek life or other organizations.
Saint Leo University offers so many different types of clubs to join, ranging from academic, multicultural, honor societies, sports and religious clubs. Academic clubs help students learn more about their major outside of classes, and you can even meet people who have the same interest as you. When students want to join an academic club, they do not need to join one that fits their major. Joining one that has nothing to do with your major helps you learn something new or something you are passionate about. Saint Leo has a small variety of Multicultural clubs available for students right now, but just because the University has a small amount doesn’t mean no one should join. The best part of the Multicultural clubs is that they help bring students of different backgrounds together to teach everyone about the different cultures which helps strengthen you as an individual by teaching you respect. The same goes for the Religious, Honor Society, and Sports clubs, whose main goals are to bring students together.
There are so many choices for students to choose from when joining Greek Life. They have the option to join Panhellenic sororities, IFC Fraternities and UGC Fraternities and Sororities. To find out about each one, all students must do is check them out on the Saint Leo student activities page. Greek Life is one of the best ways to get involved around campus because it is about gaining a new family, attending social events and so much more. Greek Life is also a way for students to get involved on campus to help each other grow; Greek Life is filled with diversity, independence and working as a group.
Students who are interested can also join Student Government Union and the Campus Activities Board. Being a part of Student Government Union means wanting to improve the on-campus life for each student of Saint Leo University. Being part of the Student Government Union will also help to learn about responsibilities and helping others. This organization will help students get involved and be a major part of the Saint Leo Community. The Campus Activities Board are the ones who plan all the events for students to attend. Being part of this organization also teaches about leadership and helping students on campus as well.
With many options offered at Saint Leo for students to get involved on campus, there are endless possibilities of what to do. Getting involved on campus is great for students to make friends and network, which can help you advance your career later in life. The best part about all of these opportunities is that when you are involved and take part in a club or Greek life, it looks great on your resume. However, don’t just join and be part of the campus to put something on your resume, use this to have some fun and enjoy being part of an organization as well.
