Have you heard about the new drink, Dr. Spice? It is from The TikTok famous soda shop, “Swig”, which is coming to the Tampa Bay area very soon! The first location of “Swig” will be arriving at Cypress Creek town center, in Pasco County. They are also expected to come to Saint Pete eventually.
Swig is known for its abundant menu of exciting, delicious dirty sodas, which are made by using name-brand sodas and adding syrups, creams, etc. They also have cookies with pink frosting, pretzel bites, and popsicles. It sounds highly appetizing, and flavorful.
Some background information about Swig is that they were founded in 2010, in St. George, Utah. The congregation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints started going to Swig because they abstained from coffee and alcohol. So, Swig sodas were the perfect refreshing alternative for them.
The states that Swig is currently in are Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Indiana, and Texas. It is so exciting, we can add Florida to that list! Especially since it is close to our Saint Leo Campus.
Tiffany Rejano, a junior, majoring in accounting, said, “I am excited about the opening. To try a very specified soda shop. I do not recall if we have any other similar shops like that in Florida.”
Swig started gaining popularity after TikTokers started posting their orders. For example, TikToker, Emilie Kieser, does “day in the life videos” where she takes her viewers around with her. In her videos, she always stops at Swig and gets the “Princess Peach” or the “Dirty Dr Pepper”.
“I will definitely order the Dirty Dr. Pepper,” said Emily Vandercar, a sophomore student majoring in criminal justice here at Saint Leo.
Swig has a wide variety of creative sodas that go with each season. For fall, they have “Dr. Spice”, a Dr. Pepper soda with cinnamon and coconut. They have summer sodas, such as, “Shark attack”, with a Sprite base, lemonade, and blue raspberry. They even have Christmas festive drinks, such as, “Jolly Elf”, with a Mountain Dew base, passion fruit, and strawberry purée.
Swig has over 20 base drinks, and over 30 flavored syrups, and fresh fruit purées. You can make any drink you would like. It is affordable, and worth a trip when it opens up. The arrival date is still unknown, but students and Tampa residents cannot wait for it to come.
