The set date for the 2019 Super Bowl taking place in Atlanta is Feb. 3. It will be a Sunday filled with football, food, commercials and the halftime show. The halftime show is a nice break from watching an intense football game, but it also attracts non-football fans to watch the game. Who will be performing the halftime show for 2019? Well, it looks like Maroon 5 has been chosen.

Although there haven’t been any official statements made yet, many sources like Variety are saying Maroon 5 will be performing. Many news outlets are also confirming that the band is performing, but it is still unclear. On Twitter, Brian McCarthy, who works in PR for the NFL, made a statement saying “It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with @pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.” This looks like there might be talks about Maroon 5 being chosen to perform but the NFL and Pepsi might end up choosing a different artist or band. Fans might be helping with that decision since many are unhappy; fans took to Twitter to speak their minds about the unconfirmed decision

Because this year’s Super Bowl will take place in Atlanta, Georgia fans believe an artist who is from Atlanta should be chosen to perform. One Twitter user PoeticGenius916 tweeted “Marron 5? With all the artists from Atlanta that are 100 times better? Somebody on the Super Bowl entertainment booking staff needs to be relieved of all duties, pronto,” and another fan goes on listing performers who could have been chosen that are all from Atlanta as well.

If the claims are true, fans can expect to see multiple guests to perform with Maroon 5 since they have many collaboration songs. One artist who might have an appearance would be Cardi B, with the single “Girls Like You” fans should expect them to team up live during the show. That is unless the NFL doesn’t change their mind on choosing an artist from Atlanta and saves Maroon 5 for another time. What do you think about Maroon 5 performing for the 2019 Pepsi Halftime Show?
