A local Tampa band, Rohna, released their first EP, “Wander With You”, on Aug. 17, 2022. The band is composed of four members who met in high school: Nick Rovello, Luca Canalungo, Andres Hernandez, and Austin Burdi.

Formed in 2019, the four friends released their debut album, “The Beautiful Ordinary” in 2020. Since then, they have won the hearts of many in not only the Tampa Bay area, but throughout the whole of Florida, and even the country.

They boast an indie, alternative rock sound, and that is absolutely highlighted in their newest album titled “Wander With You”. The EP seems to have an overarching message of escapism and wanting to get out of one’s head. It will make you want to get away for a while and enjoy the music.

The first track “Wander With You” is a wistful, dreamy track full of magic. It is about living in the moment, certainly a relatable topic for anyone who listens. A slow, catchy song with whimsical voices, it makes the perfect track to kick off the EP.

Next, an upbeat melody with smooth vocals, “All Around” gives listeners a taste of escapism. The lyrics, “Staring at the sun to drift away/ While all I know stays the same/ Letting go of what surrounds/ Escape from what’s all around,” relays a message of a need to get out of one’s everyday life.

Lastly, but certainly not least, “Nowhere Else To Go” stuns with a lively and fun beat. The vocals are great, and again, it portrays a message of wanting to get away from reality. These lyrics have a bit of a more desperate, helpless tone, compared to the first two tracks. It shows the desire for escape.

This album can be especially intriguing to college students, as many are extremely busy. With “Wander With You”, Rohna provides their listeners with a safe space so they, too, can escape into a world of music when life becomes too much.

Hopefully, Rohna’s astounding discography will make listeners feel compelled to wander with them down a musical journey. Because that is what music does: it allows for an alternate universe, one where everything seems right and whole again, if only for a few moments.
