With so many films being released, this month is quickly becoming known as the “Month of Movies.” And even though there are a few big movies being released on this day, there are a few hidden gems you won’t want to miss.

The first movie being released on Nov. 22 is a historical action film called “Gladiator II.” Directed by Ridley Scott, this movie is the sequel to the 2000 film “Gladiator.” This movie takes place years after “Gladiator” and follows Lucius (played by Paul Mescal), the son of Lucilla and Maximus from the original movie.

In “Gladiator II,” Lucius is taken from his city and placed into slavery during an invasion led by Roman soldiers, while his wife is killed in the process. He is later bought by Macrinus (played by Denzel Washington) and is turned into a Gladiator as Macrinus tries to use him to overthrow the Roman Emperors.

Many students, such as Carson Bulger, a senior student majoring in communications, are excited to see this sequel and experience this movie in theaters.

“Personally, I found ‘Gladiator II’ interesting because I liked the first movie, and I like the actors,” said Bulger. He also explained that the biggest reason he goes to the theater to watch movies is for the experience he receives while doing so.

Another good movie being released is a fun, action-thriller by the name of “Armor.” Directed by Justin Routt, this movie follows both a Father-Son duo, James and Casey (played by Jason Patric and Josh Wiggins), and a team of thieves (led by Sylvester Stallone’s character, Rook).

The Range of Movies in the theaters nowadays is so vast, having various genres like Action, Horror, Fantasy and Biopics. Giving a person the chance to switch up their taste, watching something they didn’t even know they would enjoy. (Photo was taken from Instagram @angelstudios_inc)

The duo are armored truck drivers who are tasked to deliver a package that the team of thieves are after. As the team of thieves try to intercept the package, James and Casey’s truck is tipped, but the thieves cannot manage to break inside of it. Each side fights to maintain hold of the package and their lives.

A few students are already looking forward to watching this exciting action-thriller.

“I would definitely watch this movie. I think I would be really interested in the overall plot and the main point of the story. Additionally, since the star of the movie is a familiar face, it helps me understand the tone of the film better,” said Emmanuel Morris, a business management major and Freshman student.

Morris added, “The movie also seems to leave room for suspense, which is a major plus.”

The final “must-watch” movie is a true story biopic titled “Bonhoeffer.” Directed by Todd Komarnicki, this movie is a about the German pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. This story follows Bonhoeffer’s life, having to put aside his faith as he spies on Nazi Germany and plots and attempts to assassinate the evil Adolf Hitler.

This true story was viewed as a very important time in German history, and because of this, many cannot wait to see what happens in this movie.

“I definitely want to watch ‘Bonhoeffer,’ I’ve always been interested in learning about past events and the people who had a hand in fighting for the things that have become so normal to us,” said Autumn Rolle, a sophomore nursing major. “I think watching the movie in a theater helps me to connect to it more.”

During the Week of the 22, there are so many other movies being released and that are already in theaters, giving you a longer list of movies you need to watch. So, after you watch these three movies you can always stay back in the theater and watch so much more. (Photo was taken by Sanjea Taylor)
