If you are ever in the Orlando area, specifically near Disney, and are looking for a place to eat, Disney Springs is home to one of the best restaurants I have ever visited.      Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ is comfort food at its finest.  Though it may be tucked away behind some of Disney Springs’ flashier restaurants, Chef Art Smith’s is always busy.

Upon entering, the dining area gives a modern-rustic feel with homey vibes due to its small nature despite the size of the building.  One of the first things that most visitors probably notice once they enter the building is the significantly sized bar that takes up most of the dining room.  Since Chef Art’s is usually fairly busy, the bar offers first come first served walk-up seating which is a great way to enjoy the restaurant without a reservation. Sitting at the bar is actually kind of fun because you get to watch the bartenders who are constantly moving between tending the bar and taking regular food and drink orders; it is such a crazy operation!  I give everyone who works there a lot of credit because despite how fast they have to work, they are extremely helpful and accommodating.

For those who are 21 Chef Art Smith’s uniquely has an entire menu dedicated to moonshine and whiskey from watermelon and pineapple shine to peach pecan whiskey.  While I can’t vouch for the taste, their selections of moonshine and whiskey are amongst their most popular drinks.  I personally always opt to get their classic sweet tea as it is probably one of the best sweet teas I have ever had; it is refreshing and not overwhelmingly sweet.

As for food, Chef Art’s is known for their fried chicken, and I understand why; I’m not usually a fan of fried chicken, but theirs is honestly the best I have ever tasted.  The main meal is Art’s Famous Fried Chicken and consists of several huge pieces of chicken that are brined for 24 hours before frying, mashed potatoes, and a giant cheddar drop biscuit.  While the chicken is absolutely amazing, the mashed potatoes and biscuit are also to die for; the two sides are probably my favorite things on the menu.  However, this entire meal is merely perfect; the chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the potatoes are creamy and the biscuit is simply fluffy and delicious.  Since Chef Art’s is not the cheapest of restaurants, this meal will run you $28.

Another favorite of mine is the Braised Short Ribs, otherwise known as their “fancy pot roast.”  While this meal is no frills, it is one of the best dishes of short ribs I’ve ever had.  The meat is so tender and flavorful and to top it off it comes with mashed potatoes! The meal also came with grilled corn succotash which I personally was not a huge fan of, however other guests seem too really enjoy it.  Much like the fried chicken this dish is also pricey and will cost $30.

If you are looking to enjoy Chef Art Smith’s without breaking the bank, I’ve got you covered.  The last time I visited this restaurant, I was on a budget, but still managed to have the perfect meal.  Instead of ordering the fried chicken entrée for $30 I ordered the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits appetizer for $15 and I have to say, I think I enjoyed it more.  The dish consists of three cheddar drop biscuits each with a Chef Art famous fried chicken thigh sandwiched in between topped with pickles and drizzled with hot honey.  This appetizer has a surplus of the best biscuits ever and the perfect amount of fried chicken—not too much, but definitely not too little.  Even though it is considered an appetizer, this dish is surely enough for a full meal as it was made to share.  I also ended up ordering a side of mashed potatoes because I just couldn’t pass them up!  However, even with the potatoes this meal only cost me $22, a significant price drop.

Located in the heart of it all, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ truly is the hidden gem of Disney Springs; the food and the service are wonderful, and the atmosphere is inviting.  Chef Art’s is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; they also serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.  If you are ever in the Disney area, stop by for a bite to eat, I promise you won’t regret it!
