Kate Ashby (Michaela Coel), an investigator, who works for Michael Ennis (John Goodman), human rights attorney, is one of the survivors from the Rwanda genocide. She was adopted by Eve Ashby (Harriet Walter), who’s also an attorney and prosecutor, and they live in the U.K. The series shows how Kate deals with her mom’s most recent case, a prosecution of a controversial militia leader that was involved in the genocide.

After some events that took place at the criminal court, Michael turns to Kate for help in the investigation, and they end up finding out that there is a lot more to the case than they initially thought.

The show is full of action and drama; it keeps viewers interested and eager to know what is going to happen next. Even though the episodes are one hour long, viewers barely see the time passing with all the action going on in the show. Kate is somewhat relatable, she has fights with her mom all the time and has an attitude towards her, too, that most people can identify with since we all fight with our moms on occasion.

One of the most interesting things about this show is that it is based on real events. It shows how some people lied and got away with it and how many innocent lives were taken. It also shows the scars this event left on the survivors.

One thing though, is that a lot happens at the same time. You need to pay very close attention to details, so you don’t get lost. Shows like this are good because they teach people about events that they may not know happened and how to prevent it from happening again in the future.

We are hoping for more action along the show; the first three episodes did not disappoint at all, and from what we’ve seen so far, there is a lot more coming as long as the show goes on. Hopefully, Kate will get the justice she deserves, and she can get past her physical and mental scars.
