“Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Series” is a Netflix docuseries about the notorious serial killer Ted Bundy. This true crime documentary is composed of four episodes that go into detail about the whole ordeal. Included in this series is actual footage and interviews from those affected by Ted Bundy and his actions.

The first episode begins by revisiting Bundy’s childhood in hopes of discovering what went wrong for him to turn out the way he did and commit the violent acts in which he did. One of the amazing things about Bundy that the series does a great job of capturing is how normal he was. Two journalists go on to seek the true story of why Bundy did what he did and try to understand how someone goes from a normal life to one of horror and violence.

The major emphasis in this series is that Ted Bundy was a regular guy, even the first episode is titled “The Handsome Devil.” Bundy was a man of manipulation and disguise; he hid in plain sight without anyone knowing or questioning his true intentions.

While Ted claims to have lived a normal childhood, some would beg to differ. One of Ted’s childhood friends, Sandi Holt, describes Bundy as a manipulative fraud. She says he was an outcast, and he did not fit well with other children. This is an interesting divergence from what Bundy proclaims of himself. To the public eye, Bundy was a normal and trustworthy guy, but those who knew him well can attest to his shining image.

The reason many women trusted Ted was that he seemed like a trustworthy individual that could never do any harm. His looks were very deceiving as people always saw him as a handsome man that seemed warm and charismatic. These women would give Bundy their trust only to be fooled.

Between the years of 1974 and 1978, Bundy committed over 30 homicides. These tapes delve so much further into the case than you will find anywhere else. It is broken down into essentially four short films, and each film is loaded with information and what might seem like minor details that help to paint the story as a whole. This Netflix series has been mesmerizing and has kept me wanting more. I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves a murder mystery that actually has an ending and definitive answers. “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Series” is currently available on Netflix and is a definite watch.
