Brooke Bonsted, Junior Communication Management major, sat with the Lion’s Pride Newspaper  and talked about his Candidacy in the Student Government Election.

What experience do you have which makes you qualified for the position you’re running for and a better choice than your opponent(s)?

I have proven myself time and again as a dedicated, enthusiastic, and engaging individual, in my professional, academic, and personal pursuits. My passion for communications has found a home at Saint Leo University and I look forward to making the most of my time here. As of right now, I am the Vice President of Communications Management for the Student Government Union. I have already accomplished so much within the role and I have more wonderful ideas to come.

Why do you want this position and what/who inspired or motivated you to run?

I believe a leader is not one who sets out to be a leader; however, one who strives to make a difference. It’s never about the role, it’s always about the goal. While having this position for the 2016-2017 school year, I have made all clubs/organizations Presidents come together as one, increased the activity as well as following on Student Government Unions social media outlets, as well as used my creativity to make fun flyers for all SGU events.

What do you hope to accomplish and how do you plan to accomplish these goals in your position?

I plan to keep my success rate going and hope to reach many other goals if I win. My goals for the semester would be to continue the relationships with all club/organizations Presidents. I will do this by having the Presidents work together after every Presidents Council meeting. I would also like to improve the Club Organization Status Report. Improving the report, I would have a better understanding what each and every club/organization was doing during the previous month. I would also love to host more amazing giveaways through SGU’s social media.

What would your first action in office be, if you are elected?

My first action in office would simply be congratulating the new board and thanking the old board. The old board, including myself, has rocked this semester! However, to keep the rocking going, the new board needs to bond to make sure they are all on the same page.
