In the past, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Prince and the Rolling Stones have performed at the Super Bowl. How will Katy Perry measure up to those who came before her?

Unfortunately, for the Rihanna and Coldplay fans, they did not impress ESPN against Perry while auditioning for the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl.

Perry has previously made the comment she is “not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl,” according to Super Bowl Nation. The NFL was unsure that they would want her to perform if she didn’t feel like she was “the type of girl.” It has not been cleared up as to why minds were changed on either side, the NFL or Perry, but it will make for a great show, according to Super Bowl Nation.  However, Perry blew them away in amazement during her audition, resulting in this performance being an experience that would not want to be missed.

This is not the first time that Perry has appeared on ESPN; she has been on College Game Day earlier in 2014. Perry impressed ESPN with her “energetic, exuberant pop,” the familiarity of her music and her “show-stopping performances,” according to FOX59. Many of her songs, such as “Birthday” and “Roar” from her 2013 release “Prism,” in addition to her well-known older hits, “Firework,” “Peacock,” “California Gurls” and “I Kissed A Girl” were high on the charts.  Fans of this combination ranged from all ages, making Perry’s music known to almost everyone.

Without her show-stopping performances, ESPN may have chosen a different Super Bowl performer. Perry is not only pleasing to the ears of many, but her performances are captivating with the costumes in which she creates her own “whimsical wonderland,” according to FOX59.

Still there are concerns that Perry is “not the kind of girl that performs for the Super Bowl” after all. Super Bowl Nation worries that there have been conflicts between the way the NFL and Perry likes to run the performances. Perry simply likes to set her own rules. Some worry about this experience being “one that got away,” according to Super Bowl Nation.

Rumors on the song choice are still circling throughout multiple news articles and social media. Perry has had multiple hits since her singing career has started.

“We’re betting she’ll pick ‘Roar,’ ‘Firework’ and ‘This Is How We Do,” said blogger Andrew Sims.

Regardless of what song the Perry decides to choose or if being a Super Bowl performer was a goal of hers, she will make for an excellent 2015 Super Bowl Halftime show.

“If you’re presenting yourself with confidence, you can pull off pretty much anything,” Perry stated.
