The women’s Golf team has had a very good fall season so far. The Lady Lions have completed four of five tournaments in the fall, and just wrapped up their most recent tournament, the Saint Leo Invitational, which took place at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.

The Lady Lions started their season in September, at the UIndy Invitational at Prairie View Golf Course in Indiana. The team started the season off strong as they tied for third out of 15 teams, carried by a good outing by Synne Lauritzen, who shot three over par which was good for eighth place overall.

The second tournament for the team was the Bubba Burger Jacksonville Classic in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The Lady Lions were faced with a much tougher course, as the team finished 51 strokes over par when all was said and done. This score was good enough for them to place seventh out of 13 teams, their lowest placing of fall so far. Francesca Santoni had the high score for the Lions, placing 20th overall after coming in at 10 over par for the three rounds.

The next meet took place in Howey-in-the-hills, Florida, at the Golfweek DII Fall Invite. Out of the thirteen teams competing, The Lions stood alone at the top, claiming first place all to themselves after coming in at an impressive 22 strokes over par for the team. Sontoni again led the way for the Lady Lions as she claimed the top overall golfer at the meet, coming in at four under par.

Their most recent match was a home meet at the Lake Jovita Country Club early this week. The team placed third out of the nine teams competing, with a team score of 21 strokes over par. Izzy Lawrence and Santoni led the way for the Lions, finishing fourth and eighth respectively. Lawrence shot four over par, with Santoni close behind her at five over.

The Ladies will wrap up their fall season in a couple weeks as they travel to Orlando for the Rollins Legends Invitational taking place October 28th and 29th. After that tournament, the Lions will have a long wait until February when the Spring season begins.
