Saint Leo Gets Shut Out

Saint Leo women’s soccer played the undefeated Barry Buccaneers Saturday, Oct. 20. Barry, the best team in the conference continued their onslaught season with the win over Saint Leo. Barry won the game 2-0 over the Lions to stay unbeaten on the season and remain the Sunshine State Conference champs. Saint Leo falls to 2-9-2 and 1-6-2 in the SSC. During this game, the Lions put together five shots on net with all of them hitting the frame; Junior goalie Julia Ortiz earned two saves on the game. Barry’s offense was on an entirely different level as they had their way with the Lions’ defense. They had a ridiculous 14 shots with six on goal. The first goal was scored by Barry’s Gabby Grimshaw, her 11th on the season early in the fourth minute. The second goal was scored by Molly Sharpe giving her 11 on the season as well in the 62 minutes. The Lady Lions will stay home for their next game on October 23, 2018, at 7 p.m. against Tampa, where they will honor their seniors. This will be the final game of the season for the Lions, and after a tough one, the team looks to regroup and come back stronger next season.
