The Saint Leo Men’s Soccer program has had a bit of a roller coaster ride to start off their 2019 season. The team dropped their first three games to Southeastern, West Florida, and #3 ranked Lander. However, the contests were all close, and the team quickly found a groove and rebounded to win three out of their next four matchups, giving hope to a major momentum swing in their favor. Unfortunately, the Lions face another setback after losing their first game at home last night to the Tritons. Their opponent, third in the Sunshine State Conference rankings, pushed the Saint Leo program to a 1-2 conference record and 4-5 overall clip.

Senior goalkeeper from Atherton, England, Christian Evans, notched two quality saves in the contest, and his personal record now stands even at two wins and two losses.

The Lions managed to launch eight shots at the net throughout the game, but at full time the offense had only one shot on goal to show for it, a shot belonging to Uruguayan freshman Mauro Diaz.

The next game for the Green and Gold will take place in Winter Park against the Rollins College Tars on Wednesday, October 9th. Make sure to support the team and check out the free livestream starting at 7pm on gameday, which you can access conveniently through your Saint Leo Portal or on the team’s page via the Saint Leo Athletics website (SaintLeoLions.com).
