Ron DeSantis is a qualified candidate on account of being a graduate of Yale University, Harvard Law and being a former U.S. Representative for Florida’s sixth congressional district. DeSantis also served as an attorney as well as a JAG prosecutor in the Navy. He will build upon the foundation laid by Rick Scott to keep taxes low, give parents a choice when picking schools despite their zip code and maintain a working relationship with the current administration to keep our environment clean.
DeSantis’ relationship with the current administration and his direct line to President Trump will not only pay dividends for the economy but also the vital environment we have in Florida. His environmental policy paper includes a four-part plan which starts with protecting the state’s water supply, protecting beaches by banning fracking and drilling off the coast, restoring water flow and preventing toxic algae blooms fed by foul water discharges from Lake Okeechobee. He has used working relationships with CongressmanBrian Mast in Florida’s 18th district to stop the Army Corps from putting toxic discharges in Lake Okeechobee. He has shown through cutting the red tape and directly addressing issues that Floridians have longed for that we finally have a candidate that can protect our environment at the federal level and state level.
Ron DeSantis’ biggest supporter in this race for the governorship is the president himself, Donald Trump. With the recent tax cuts passing last year in 2017 Ron DeSantis is willing and supports not only tax cuts at the national level but the state level. Wanting to build off the great success of Rick Scott, he is a firm believer in keeping taxes low and letting small businesses and corporations flourish. Florida has no personal income tax and has one of the lowest tax burdens in the United States, which is one of the many reasons people and businesses continue to move to our state. He will continue to keep taxes low so that Florida continues to be an affordable place to live, work, retire and visit.
Since Ron DeSantis is a graduate of prestigious universities such as Yale and Harvard, he understands the importance of education for both the families that can afford it and those that lack the resources to send students to top schools. He wants to implement a maximization of Florida taxpayers’ investment in our students. Ron DeSantis will fulfill the 80 percent Classroom Spending Plan, which ensures that 80 percent of public K-12 education spending goes directly into the classroom.
He also understands that college is not for everyone much like the military, so he wants to bring back vocational training into our schools for those that do not want to take the college route. Furthermore, he will ensure that all Florida students can go to a good school and empower parents to make educational decisions for their children. He can accomplish this by supporting school choice options such as public magnet schools, district & non-district managed public charter schools regardless of their zip code, Florida Virtual School, home education and the various other choice options.
Ron DeSantis fits the mold to be the governor of this great state. He understands the struggles of the middle class, how expensive education can be for the average family and how important the environment is to Floridians.
