Monday, October 29, was another visit of another monster- Hurricane Sandy. The devastative impact of this storm through the 29th and the 30th was just unspeakable. Residents along with the coastal states of New Jersey, and Newark in New York, were probably, the most-hit zones of the catastrophe. Millions of people have since been displaced and already in need of emergency relief.

Did you ever see a movie and realize that the only reason you went to see it was because it had gnarly actions scenes? While Wrath of the Titans was a good action movie, the plot left something to be desired. It is the sequel to Clash of the Titans, an equally horrible movie in terms of plot and character development. While the cast is quite impressive in terms of acting chops, there is not any real acting happening, unless you count fighting with swords acting. The film has very little going for it, but the same cast, plus a few new faces.

In recent weeks, the United States and Cuba have officially decided to put aside their differences and make peace with one another. Political leaders of the two countries did not initially facilitate the agreement. The initial request for these two countries to wave the white flags was made by Pope Francis.

Mardi Gras is enjoyed every year, starting one month before Ash Wednesday, and building up until the night of Feb. 21 this year (Fat Tuesday). Businesses and roads are practically shut down, and people are in crazy costumes attending parties almost every night.
Globalization is the buzzword that you hear every time you watch the news or read the newspaper. Globalization is taught in our school systems and our universities and is seen as a way to improve our economy. But no one asks who really benefits from globalization? In our efforts to become a global economy, did we sell the goose that lays the golden eggs?
