Each year The Lions’ Pride provides each candidate with a platform to express their views on why they should be elected to the Executive Board of the Student Government Union.
In doing so, candidates record a 30 second video where they express their observations, goals and future perspectives of the ever-changing dynamic at the University.
The videos are subsequently uploaded to the YouTube chanell for The Lions’ Pride and streamed for the student body to watch, compare and replay until election time.
In addition to recording the video promotion, the candidates also fill out a small questionnaire designed to understand fully, the individual platforms and motivations of each candidate.

To gain a high level of trust with the student body and senators so that we can effectively work well together to bring. I want to use my platform and let the students know that their voices do matter on campus. I want to gain a relationship with all the presidents and their eboard members so that they can communicate what is and isn’t working well for them so we can try to adjust to that.

I have 3 primary missions in my candidacy for VPO. I want to increase club and organization outreach, foster leadership within students, and promote an increase in campus enthusiasm. I plan on increasing outreach by being someone who is willing to bring organizations voices to the table and help them to express what they need. I want to foster leadership by bringing better leadership conferences to the campus and also want to work in conjunction with the VP of Finance to offer scholarships to SGU Senators. Finally, I would like to host better SGU sponsored events and increase our number of clubs and organizations on campus.

I hope to take the work the current Vice President of Communication Management has established and carry on the work that is already done, as well as put whatever goals she had previously planned into effect. I also hope to understand the needs of those I work directly with such as Presidents of organizations and find out what it is they feel I could do to best serve them and the Saint Leo community.

I want to help increase transparency of the finances regarding Student Government Union so that students are aware of all of the things they can and cannot do with the money that is available to them in the budget. I also would like to increase communication between the Appropriations Committee and the various clubs and organizations in order to make allocating funds as smooth as possible in coordination with accounting.

Better the functionality of those serving in the senate to better represent themselves and those in which elect them. The ability to become elected as Vice President of Operation will better influence the different committees to be more transparent in their work as long as the rest of the SGU Board.

• Volunteer opportunities with chance to earn hours
o Create different slots of time that can be signed by either myself of the director of CAB Sonja Massa and it be seen as volunteer document.
o Give each E-board member a list of willing volunteers so they each can have extra hands and give students a chance to get involved.
• Collaborations with other departments (Keep connect 12)
o Continue to have different organizations sponsor bingo prizes, even have different organizations table/partner with CAB to put on different events on campus.
• Freshmen activities board (F.A.B)
o Creating this board of all freshmen is to first get freshmen involved sooner but it is mainly to give freshmen students a voice in what activities on campus.

I hope to make the allocation process easier for the student body. I want to build upon what Kristy has done. Which means I would plan to make a Youtube video on engage Leo to help students and organizations understand what is need for a good allocation. I also would want to put examples on the website to have references for the students as well. I also would want to plan workshops with bringing in alumni in the business of budgeting and accounting for the student body for financial literacy after college. So students would have a head start in the real world by learning how to manage their money when it comes to life after college.

I hope to carry on new presidents meeting for all the new presidents so that they can continue to learn about what needs to be done so that their club stay in good standings.

I would like to make sure the 70+ organizations and clubs get the voice they deserve. I would plan on doing that by asking their representatives at the presidents meeting that occurs every semester and if they aren’t present, getting in touch with the certain organization to see if there are any issues.

As VPO I plan to make the Senate not only more efficient but to spread the Senate’s influence on matters pertaining to the student body. My goal as the VPO is to foster the general student body’s engagement into matters that are important to them. Whether you are in a club, or organization, work an on campus job, or participate in intramurals.

I hope to get Fritz out to more events. I plan on doing this by working with the future VPA and organizing set times in which Fritz can come to attend organizations and clubs events. Pride for our school is very important and having Fritz there will bring pride and community. I plan to promote more organization and club events to get more attendees and that way get students more involved on campus. I will work on this by posting on social media as our current VPCM does. Also, to get students aware of the pantry of food items that are accessible to them in quantities at a time. This will help towards showing the student body and making them more aware of how SGU supports them. Most importantly I want to work on getting any organizations that are in bad standing back into good standing. I will continue having personal meetings as the current VPCM is doing. Also, by having tutorials and informational sessions aside from president counsel.

If I am eleceted as Student Government President. I will look at three goals: 1. Smoking Policy: transition to smoke-free by establishing zones for Smokers to be able to utilize.
2. Transportation: options to get around town including Tampa, Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel, Dade City
3. Jobs: Internship Fund
4. Food: leftover swipes or bonus bucks for persons not on unlimited meal plans.
