On Sept. 8, the Campus Activity Board (CAB) hosted a fun afternoon event where students gathered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to express their creativity by decorating door signs for their dorm room doors.

Outside of the Student Community Center, CAB set up tables filled with supplies for any student to use. There were so many different colors of paint, from red, blue, white, green, and yellow. Students used the paint to mix and create their own colors as well!

Alongside the paint, they had many brushes and sponges to be able to design the artwork the way they wanted to. They brought acrylic markers to be able to write and draw, to make your sign even more decorative and personable.

There was a range of different signs to choose from. The two options were wooden rectangles that required hanging up or a smaller wooden sign that could hang on your door handle. Among all the options, the most popular was the one that could fit on the door handle of your door.

Due to it being the beginning of the semester, this event was a great way to bring peopletogether, take a break from class, relax, and give students a calm activity to do amid the stress of classes, homework, tutoring, work, and practice.

People brought their friends, talked, laughed, and painted their own designs that matched their personalities or used colors that matched their dorm rooms or apartment.

Students painted suns, flowers, fruit, bows, trees, letters, and crosses, making it their own.

CAB goes out of their way to set these uplifting events up for students, so they can create a door sign to make their dorm feel like a home away from home.

Creating something that can go in your college space can make it feel more positive and happier during those sad times of missing home.

“The best part of hosting this event as a CAB member is seeing how much fun everyone has. Watching students laugh, connect, and make memories reminds us why we do what we do; it’s all about creating moments that matter,” stated by CAB.

It’s especially important for freshmen to attend fun events like this one. You never know how much fun you will have or the new people you will meet.

Now, after this event, students have something to take home that they made that they will have forever. Something to hold onto the memories they made at Saint Leo University.
