Leo Love Week will take place from Feb. 14-17. This week will give students the opportunity to participate in a variety of engaging events. Here is what students can expect.
The Campus Activities Board and Student Government Union will host the activities that will encourage students to express their love for Saint Leo, for their friends, and for themselves.
“Throughout the week, we will offer a variety of activities to celebrate being a Saint Leo student as well as an appreciation for those around us,” said Ashley Phelps, Assistant Director at the Office Student Activities and Family Engagement.
Some students are looking forward to demonstrating some of the University’s core values during Leo Love Week.
“When participating in Leo Love Week, I would like to exemplify responsible stewardship and have a positive impact on the community,” said Hector Ramirez, a freshman majoring in Criminal Justice with a criminalistics specialization.
Students can stop by Kirk Lawn between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Mon., Feb.14, to write love letters for their friends and relatives.
“I would love to experience a great feeling of kindness and humility from everyone involved,” said Ramirez. “I would also like to express my gratitude to other students.”
On Tuesday, February 15th, at 6:30 pm, there will be Bingo in the Student Community Center Loggia. Students can look forward to Valentine’s Day-themed prizes.
“There will be two prizes that could be used as a date night. These are a picnic basket and a painting set,” said Phelps.
Leo love week is not just about romantic relationships.
“We are not necessarily focusing on romantic love, but on self-love, friendships, and love for Saint Leo,” Phelps explained.
There will be a volunteer fair from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wed., Feb.16, at the Student Community Center Loggia, where students will have the opportunity to support community partners.
“Tasks include organizing, landscaping, sorting, serving food, and building houses,” said Brandee Greaves, Assistant Director of Greek Life and Community Service.
Students are excited to give back to a university that has provided them with many opportunities.
“I expect to feel accomplished by participating in the volunteer fair because I will have helped the Saint Leo community,” said Aaliyah Dixon, a freshman majoring in biology with a specialization in biomedical health sciences. “Saint Leo University has offered me irreplaceable friendships and opportunities, and thus, I am looking forward to taking part in the volunteer fair.”
On Feb. 16, there will also be a painting night at 4:30 pm in the SAB Loggia. This activity is an excellent way for students to socialize with their peers and entertain themselves with artistic activities.
Finally, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Feb. 17, there will be an involvement fair where students can learn about the various clubs and organizations on campus. This is another great opportunity for those who want to get involved and connect with other students.
