On Mar. 3, The Campus Activities Board hosted the annual event Spring Fling Neon Carnival to get students “hyped” for spring break, which is rapidly approaching. The free event began at 6 p.m. sharp in the SCC Bowl and continued until 10 p.m.

The Bowl was filled with many different rides, games, food trucks and booths. While checking in, students, staff, faculty and friends received two tickets, one for their choice of food truck and another for the famous popsicles. Guests also received a free glow in the dark T-shirt, which corresponded to the carnival’s “neon glow” theme.

Another booth for students to mosey on over to was the photo booth, where participants could pose for a picture that was immediately printed out and framed using a special Saint Leo filter.

There were multiple food trucks guests could pick and choose from, including “The Melt Machine,” “Kickin’ Caribbean,” “The Boom Box,” and “Sextons Pizza.” There were also gourmet popsicles and cotton candy on glow in the dark sticks.

“I really enjoyed the fact that there was a Caribbean food truck at the event,” said Dwanasha Decosta, a junior business management major. “The most exciting part of spring fling was the fried Oreos, pizza, cotton candy and popsicles.”

There were several carnival rides and games for students to partake in. Some of these included Zip-lining, amusement rides such as the cyclone, a bouncing castle, skeeball game and water gun games.

“I went on the spinning ride that you lay down on and I went to the skeeball and the water shooting booth,” said Christian Supreme, a sophomore accounting and economics major. “I didn’t win any prizes which was honestly totally unfair.”

Rese Hamm, a junior criminal justice major, attends the event every year and has been a big fan of Spring Fling since her first semester.

“Spring Fling should be a two-day weekend event,” Hamm suggested.

Tracey MacLeavy, a junior computer science major, attended the event seeking a good time. She was especially looking forward to “all the fun, excitement, food, rides and the cool prizes, like the small and big stuffed animals.”

Just like in years past, the evening culminated with its traditional fireworks display, ending the Spring Fling with a bang, so to speak.
