Every semester, Saint Leo puts on the Involvement Fair, a great way to get students aware of the different clubs and organizations on campus. This year’s event was held on Jan. 19 outside of the SAB.
The fair is ideal for students who want to be involved during their time in college. Many different clubs and organizations were in attendance, including CAB (Campus Activities Board), Greek Life, and TABS (Tenor, Alto, Bass, Soprano), just to name a few.
“You get to see a lot of people’s personalities and you also get to see what people do and what their interests are,” said senior Ruby Uzzell, a Marketing and Multimedia Management major.
The Involvement Fair is a great opportunity for students to not only see what there is to be involved in, but to see what their fellow peers involve themselves in and what it is they like to do. Saint Leo is a very diverse community; there are many students with many different backgrounds and interests.
With all of these different interests, there are so many different organizations and clubs to get involved in, there’s something for everyone. Being involved in college is something others would recommend and highly encourage.
“Your college experience can be amazing, but you have to kind of put yourself out there and make things happen,” Morgan Baum, Assistant Director of Student Activities said.
Baum, one of those who helped to organize the event, believes that one’s college experience is what they put into it, and for those wanting to make the most of their college experience, the Involvement Fair is a great place to start because all of the different clubs and organizations are in the same place at the same time.
Though the primary focus in college is academics, from classes and internships to homework and projects, it is also important for students to enjoy themselves and do something they love.
“I think it’s so huge to be involved in something that’s not academic, just something that you enjoy,” claimed Prevention Counselor, Tiffany Nelson.
There were many students who came out to the Involvement Fair, whether they were helping and representing their certain organization, or they were looking for organizations to get involved in. Hospitality Management major, Julia DiCarlo came to the Involvement Fair to mostly talk with the different Panhellenic sororities since recruitment was the next week, but she also wanted to see what other clubs there were that she would be interested in.
“I definitely want to get involved in more clubs and everything, and I have to make my way around,” said DiCarlo.
Getting involved in college is significant for all students. It is important to not have too much on your plate at once, but if you start with one or two things that you really enjoy, your college experience can be a blast.
