The Leo Sunset CD edition at Saint Leo University was a huge success! On Jan. 21, between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The Campus Activity Board (CAB) hosted an event where students could paint their own CDs!

The event was held in the Student Community Center boardrooms, giving students a lot of space to paint with their friends. Right when you walk in, there is a table filled with different types of paint markers that students could use. You could bring as many colors of markers as you wanted to your table. They had every single color you could think of!

Some students sat alone, listened to music, relaxed, and others sat with their friends and used this event as a social gathering. This event was for students to unwind and be stress-free during the middle of a busy week, and to have fun painting any design they wanted.

As students relaxed, the iconic movie “Clueless” played, giving the event a vintage vibe. “Clueless” came out in 1995, so it was very fitting for the CD event. CDs are not used much anymore, so painting them into keepsakes or dorm decorations for your room is a cute, common craft nowadays.

The students were very creative. They painted lyrics, landscapes, beaches, fruits, and different patterns!

Many people came and participated. It was a perfectly calm activity for the evening. (Photo was taken by Brooke Brinker)

Miranda (Mars) Shuman, a sophomore majoring in Communications and minoring in Theatre, said, “My favorite part of the event was getting an opportunity to do something unique and stress-free with my friends!”

This event had a Y2K aesthetic and was a fun activity to participate in.

This event was a perfect way to de-stress from homework, work, and responsibilities. It was the perfect event to have the second week back from Winter break. It was relaxing to just paint and watch a lighthearted comfort movie. CAB always does such a great job of hosting creative, stress-relieving, fun events.

Shuman said, “The first few weeks back into the semester are overwhelming, but the campus activities board did a great job of providing a fun and cute event!”

As the event ended, there were so many beautiful CDs painted, and it was a great way to bring the Saint Leo community together. This event was one that students will not forget or be “Clueless” about!
