On Friday, Aug. 29, the Student Community Center (SCC) Lakeside Patio came alive with music, games, and positive vibes as the Campus Activity Board and Dining Hall hosted an event, The Kickback Carnival.
Starting at 5 p.m., this event gave students a chance to connect and have fun with each game, which felt like a real carnival. It consisted of balloon darts, fishbowl tosses, and prizes that had everyone lining up for more.
For example, Ballon Darts was an ultimate favorite game which consisted of hitting the dot on the apple to win a prize, like a teddy bear.

Another exciting game was when students threw the ball into a transparent plastic fishbowl to win a fish! Many students would get in line to play again so they could win a fish. Studentsclaimed they played the game around four times. This game was so popular that students were offering to pay for the fish at the end of the event.
Another game involved hitting bottles to retrieve a plastic alien, which required students to test their concentration and coordination.
“The carnival was a great event. We’ve been receiving a lot of great feedback from students regarding our events, and this was one of our best. It was great to see so many new faces and students enjoying a wholesome Friday night”, said Cindy Cadichon, a senior majoring in Medical Humanities-Pre Med.
Also, one of the main points of the Kickback Carnival was the food; students were excited to see all the traditional carnival snacks lined up, such as corn dogs, fluffy cotton candy in pink and blue, and the smell of buttery popcorn.

The sun was shining down, so students enjoyed a cold dessert. They had snow cones with different flavors ranging from cherry to blue raspberry.
The Kickback Carnival was a reminder of how fun and connected campus life can be when students show up and get involved. Whether the students came for the games, the food, or to have a good time, everyone left with prizes, a fish, or even a sugar rush.
