  1. “50 First Dates”

This film stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in a romantic comedy about two people meeting for the ‘first’ time over and over. Adam Sandler plays Henry Roth, a player known for having short flings with female tourists. Drew Barrymore plays Lucy Whitmore, a resident of Hawaii, who suffers from short-term memory loss. When the two characters meet, Henry Roth becomes obsessed with attempting to win over Lucy Whitmore every day, while at the same time putting himself in the dangerous position of the possibility of falling in love with her.

  1. “The Proposal”

This romcom stars Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock whom both play characters working at a publishing house. Sandra Bullock portrays Margaret Tate, a no-non-sense businesswoman, working as editor-in-chief. Ryan Reynolds portrays Bullock’s assistant, Andrew Paxton, who is eager to get into the editing/writing world. The beginning shows Andrew Paxton despising his boss, wanting nothing more than to get promoted. Margaret Tate acknowledges his desires and knows he will do anything in the world to keep his job if it means he will one day get the promotion of his dreams. However, will he go as far as keeping up a fake proposal so that his demanding boss will not get deported back to Canada due to an expired Visa?

  1. “Ghost”

This romance stars Demi Moore as Molly Jenson and the late Patrick Swayze as Sam Wheat. The two portray a young couple moving in together, excited to start their life with one another. The title gives away a major plot element; Sam Wheat dies early in the film, leaving behind his grieving girlfriend, Molly Jenson. After learning there was more to his death than a mere accident, the ghost of Sam Wheat attempts to get messages to Molly through a medium, played by Whoopi Goldberg. Sam battles the living through a thrilling film directed by Jerry Zucker.

  1. “Stuck In Love”

This film follows three couples going through the many complexities of love. Father, William Borgens, attempts to reconnect with his children after divorcing his wife. His children Samantha and Rusty struggle to come to terms with their parent’s divorce, as well as their personal struggles with their own romantic relationships. Lily Collins portrays Samantha, a girl with dreams to one day become a respected author like her father while attending college, and is all the while being pursued by Logan Lerman’s character, Louis. Nat Wolff portrays Rusty Borgens, a high school student obsessed with Stephen King, who also has a massive crush on a female classmate. Nat Wolff’s love interest is played by Liana Liberto, a high school student with drug addiction. Throughout the film Rusty and Kate (Liana Liberto) find themselves in a new and exciting relationship; however, obstacles appear when Kate’s addictions come into play. Samantha and Louis find themselves in a whirlwind of emotions as they go through an unexpected relationship, while their family lives affect how close they become.

  1. “Just Friends”

This romantic comedy stars Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, and Amy Smart. Reynolds portrays Chris Brander, who is best friends with Amy Smart’s character, Jamie Palamino. The film begins with overweight, high school student Chris Brander wanting to tell his childhood best friend, Jamie, that he is in love with her. After his attempt is interrupted, the film fast forwards to a successful and thin Chris Brander, working at a music record label. Chris is forced into flying to Paris with Anna Faris’ character, Samantha. However, their flight takes an unexpected landing, and they are stuck in Chris’ hometown. In the events leading up to a reconnection with his childhood best friend and crush, Jamie, Chris focuses on attempting to win her over, while having to babysit his irritating client, Samantha.

  1. “The Vow”

This heartfelt love story is about two people attempting to overcome massive obstacles to stay together. Paige, portrayed by Rachel McAdams, is married to Leo, portrayed by Channing Tatum. After falling victim to a car crash and losing her memory, Paige wakes up with no recollection of her relationship with her husband. This causes Leo to try to help ease Paige back into their routine; however, Paige struggles immensely with the adjustment. Paige decides to revert to her last known way of life. The story follows Leo as he continues to pursue Paige, wanting to remind her why they fell in love.

  1. “Meet The Parents”

This comedy stars actors Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. Stiller plays Greg Focker who recently decided he wants to propose to his longtime girlfriend. Upon learning he has to have her father’s blessing, Greg goes on the courageous journey of meeting her parents. De Niro portrays Jack Byrnes, the girlfriend’s father. The comedy surrounds the two as they go through a disastrous first-time encounter. Jack uses all his resources in attempts to find incriminating evidence as to why his daughter should not marry Greg, as Greg tries with all his power to win over his soon to be father-in-law. Will Greg finally convince Jack Byrnes he is good enough to marry his daughter or will he be outmatched?

  1. The “Harry Potter” Films

Harry Potter is one of the largest franchises in the world; the movie series is based on J.K. Rowling’s seven novels. The series follows a young wizard by the name Harry Potter, who has a dark past that everyone seems to know more about than he does. Throughout the series, he goes through many life-threatening obstacles with best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. “Harry Potter” is a great date movie idea for lovers of the wizarding world, watching as Harry Potter battles many intricate fights while also finding love in romance, friendship, and family for the first time.

  1. “Secret Life of Pets”

This animated film calls all dog-loving couples to watch. The heartfelt animation film follows two seemingly incompatible new brothers as they attempt to adjust to living with each other. As events begin to derail, the two find themselves on a crazy adventure together while trying to get back home to their owner. Along the way, the two seem to become fond of each other and begin to form a brotherly love toward one another.

  1. Disney movies

Any Disney film from “Up” to “Peter Pan” will be perfect for a date night for Disney-loving couples. Disney films contain elements from grief to love and will take viewers on a roller coaster of emotions. Disney-loving couples can bond over their favorite films, while enjoying the magic of Disney world.
