World famous rapper, Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., more commonly known as Snoop Dogg, is consistently working on projects. The 46-year-old of Long Beach, California has had great success with music among other things. The father of four has experience in genres like hip-hop, funk, reggae and gangsta rap, music is not all he is known for though.
Snoop always appears in the media for his cheerful attitude, an attitude people love seeing.
Many projects Snoop has taken on may come as a surprise to some people. His versatility is apparent when people become aware of the number of projects his name is on.
His favorite game show growing up was “The Joker’s Wild.” He got the opportunity to host TBS’s new version, featuring celebrity artists Wiz Khalifa, Kelly Osbourne, Method Man and others; the first episode dated back to Oct. 24, 2017. The set in his casino with slot machines, dice, and cards. Questions asked are street related as well as problem-solving. His version is a game where street smarts compete with book smarts.
On Oct. 27, 2017, he released an extended play. “Make America Crip Again” consisted of hip-hop and rap with a total of 8 songs, the play time of 29:26. It was Snoop’s second EP ever released. Guest features included Chris Brown and O.T Genesis containing production from Kid Capri. The name is a play Donald Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again.” The album cover displays Snoop standing behind a dead body in an ID tag that reads “Trump,” paying respect to “Death Certificate,” a 1991 album by Ice Cube.
Snoop’s versatility does not stop there. He has recently starred in “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party,” an American television show. The series starring Martha Steward and Snoop Dogg premiered on Nov. 7, 2016, on VH1. There have since been 18 episodes split into two seasons, which were filmed at the CBS Studio Center in Los Angeles, California.
Martha Stewart is a famous American television personality. The two make an odd pair because Martha specializes in cooking and crafts while Snoop is mainly known as a rap artist. The pair host gatherings, personalizing their dishes for themed meals. These dinners include cooking, drinking, and discussions with other artists. Artists featured on the show are Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Jason Derulo, 50 Cent, Robin Thicke, and others.
Snoop has recently starred in the Netflix Original docuseries, “Coach Snoop.” Los Angeles streets are home for gangs and gun violence. The show revolves around a group of teenage boys involved in football to keep them off the streets, the Snoop Youth Football League. Due to Snoop Dogg’s history with the streets, he wants the boys to take a smarter approach to life. Although he coaches the boys on football, they are further coached on bettering themselves and dealing with their problems.
The entertainer has recently switched up his style by releasing a gospel album, “Bible of Love.” The album has been a surprise to many due to his history with music like Sensual Seduction, Gin and Juice and Gangsta Luv. His sixteenth studio album released on March 16, 2018, featuring 32 songs. The late Dorothy Tate, Snoop’s grandmother, sparked his interest in gospel music.
He said, “I am blessed to have so many legendary friends join me on this journey. As the country is in one of its heaviest times and is so divided, I wanted to make an album that spreads love and unity around the world. That’s what I was taught, so that’s all I know. Real love.” Famous artists Mary Mary and Faith Evans are featured on the album.
Snoop Dogg is a versatile artist. His animated personality has added value to each of these projects making them all undeniably impressive.
