The highly anticipated 3-D animated science-fiction fantasy series “RWBY” created by Monty Oum premiered Oct. 27 for Rooster Teeth First members. This following week it was released to the public on their official site roosterteeth.com rather than on YouTube as the site is no longer able to fund their shows sufficiently, according to Rooster Teeth co-writer Miles Luna.
The story takes place in the world of Remnant overrun by creatures of Grimm that do not contain souls and are attracted to the negative emotions of Faunus (human-like creatures that are comprised of animal-like attributes) and humans. However, this world is also swarming with various other adversaries that are lurking in the shadows waiting for that perfect moment to pounce and plunge their world into darkness. Young and bright students, such as Ruby Rose (Lindsay Jones), Weiss Schnee (Kara Eberle), Blake Belladonna (Arryn Zech) and Yang Xiao Long (Barbara Dunkleman) attend one of the most prestigious academies in the kingdom of Vale training to become hunters and huntresses to fight against monsters and villains threatening their kingdoms while getting into various shenanigans along the way.
SPOILER ALERT: Last season, Team RWBY consisting of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long reunited during the attack on Haven Academy in the kingdom of Mistral. Team RWBY along with Sun Wukong (Michael Jones), Illia (Cherami Leigh Kuehn) and several other members of the people of Menagerie fought against Salem (Jennifer “Jen” Lee Taylor) and her lackeys such as, Mercury Black (Yuri Lowenthal), Emerald Sustrai (Katie Newville) and Hazel Rainart (William Orendorff). They also fought temporarily with The White Fang led by Adam Taurus (Garrett Hunter), Leonardo Lionheart (Daman Mills) and Yang’s mother Raven Branwen (Anna Hullum). For the sole reason of preventing them from acquiring a relic, a physical manifestation of one of the four gifts to humanity that Ozpin (Shannon McCormick), who now shares a soul and body with Oscar (Aaron Dismuke), could bring untold destruction.
The sixth season of the series takes place right after Team RWBY has securely acquired and defended the relic of knowledge in Mistral from Salem and her lackeys. The team is now on their way to Atlas with Qrow Branwen (Vic Mignogna), Oscar (Aaron Dismuke) and the remaining members of Team JNPR. They are journeying to the northern region of Remnant to acquire a relic hidden within the walls of Atlas Academy guarded by its students and headmaster James Ironwood (Jason Rose). But, with the relic attracting hordes of Grimm and the team having unresolved issues amongst each other it is only a matter of time before their enemy closes in.
