The 20th Thanksgiving dinner was located at the Saint Anthony of Padua Parish Center on Nov 26 and was held by the Benedictine Sisters of Florida. The event put on by S. Mary David Hydro is meant to draw in a diverse group of all ages and ethnicities.                 The night before the event, 15 volunteers peeled and diced a record breaker of 120 pounds of potatoes in 45 minutes. However, every year, when the Halloween season rolls around, the park undergoes a grim transformation. Fog fills the streets of the park, actors dressed as monsters and fiends wander about, and blood and gore abound. This fall, besides largest incoming class of freshmen in its history, the University welcomes its new president, Dr. William Lennox Jr. Lennox has had a long and distinguished career before coming to the University as a member of the Board of Trustees in 2008. He attended The United States Military Academy at West Point where he received his bachelor’s degree in international affairs. There are twenty-nine emergency blue light call boxes on Saint Leo University’s campus, but how many people actually know about them or even know where they are? Despite the twenty-four-hours-a-day seven-days-a-week campus security officers who travel on foot, golf carts, and even on mountain bikes, campus safety cannot be notified about every incident, but the emergency blue light call boxes can help control these incidents. On Sunday, Oct. 11th as a conclusion of the Fall Family Festival at the University campus, Saint Leo hosted a charity event. About 50 people finished a 5K long race to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation. Similarly to last year’s Breast Cancer Awareness 5K walk/race, this fall, Saint Leo University hosted Walk for Wishes 5K. The event was organized by the Student Government Union, the Campus Activities Board, and Saint Leo Athletics. Approximately 200 incoming freshmen, along with friends and family, visited Saint Leo University on July 18th to have fun at the Summer Festival.     The Summer Festival was hosted by University Admissions and organized by Brandilyn Bolden, Associate Director of Events and Campus Visits. It lasted from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Bowl behind the Student Community Center.
