The Stars Among Us

Makito Hoshino, a junior majoring in global studies, was pleased with the finish product.

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, The Campus Activities Board proved that it was definitely not short on events for the Saint Leo family. CAB converted the SCC Lobby into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The event, entitled “Hollywood Walk of Fame Stars,” presented the Lion community with the opportunity to craft stars with their names on it in reference to the real ones located in Los Angeles, California. The available icons that could be featured on the stars were: a disc for the music industry, a camera for the movie industry, and a TV for the television industry. The students would design their star and pick it up sometime later.

To bring this project to life, CAB enlisted the help of Kirkland Productions, a group that specializes in customizing entertainment events in colleges throughout the country. After adding their student ID in a tablet to participate in the event, an individual had to choose which icon would go on their star. Then after printing the image, the depiction would go to Michelle Feigenbaum, a representative from Kirkland Productions, so that she could add the adhesive material to hand over the final product to the student.

Jarred Pernier, a junior majoring in communications management and member of CAB, said that he was pretty satisfied with the results of the program.

“We like to try new things, make sure students have a great time,” Pernier recounted.

Some students even related to Pernier how much they appreciate CAB’s initiative; Pernier feels confident that this event will make a return due to its popularity among students.

Pernier referred to “Hollywood Walk of Fame Stars” as an introductory event for what is about to go down in the days to come. Leo’s Love Week will be keeping CAB pretty busy. With events like “Wax Dipped Flowers,” a special themed Bingo night, and “A Night on Love Lane,” CAB seems to have a lot on its plate for Valentine’s Day.
