SGU position you applied for: Vice President of Operations

What experience do you have which makes you qualified for the position you’re running for and a better choice than your opponent(s)?

I have a myriad of experiences; firstly, I currently sit on the Board of Senators for Student Government Union. Therefore, I have first-hand experience of how Senate Meetings are run as well as the process of guiding clubs and organizations to get SGU recognized. I have shadowed and am currently shadowing the current Vice President of Operations, Mikael Coleman. I have helped to organize the clubs and organizations based on those in good standing. I also got the opportunity to see the different steps and contribute to the process of planning a leadership conference. I also am very involved on campus and therefore have developed wonderful interpersonal skills, this interaction with students allows me to be able to serve the student body as I am more familiar with their needs.

Why do you want this position and what/who inspired or motivated you to run?

I want this position because I wish to serve the student body by helping them to develop as student leaders through the introduction and education of numerous opportunities. I was motivated to run because of my interactions with students from all walks of life that have expressed their various needs and concerns. I wish to meet the needs of students where necessary and take their concerns into genuine consideration and develop Saint Leo University and the position of Vice President of Operations as one that is devoted to service, that takes the needs of students to heart.

What do you hope to accomplish and how do you plan to accomplish these goals in your position?

If and when elected as Vice President of Operations, I hope to continue to build on the work of the current Vice President so the position can successively grow in the right direction so it will be easier for those in the future to finish work already started. I also hope to accomplish getting the student body more involved in Student Government and in their personal growth and development. I plan to accomplish these goals by making myself known to the public in hopes that a stronger presence on campus encourages students to be more active and vocal about contributing to the growth of the campus.

What would your first action in office be, if you are elected?

My first action in office would be to start off by getting familiar with the various clubs and organizations on campus. I will also aim at reviving some of the dormant clubs on campus by developing advertisements for interested students. I also plan to make social media pages specifically under the Vice President of Operations position, so as to increase the presence of the position on campus.
