SGU position you applied for: Vice President of Activities

What experience do you have which makes you qualified for the position you’re running for and a better choice than your opponent(s)?

Although I am only a second-semester freshman, I have always been a highly active member on campus. The clubs and organizations that I take part in here have strongly aided in developing my leadership and organization skills, both qualities of which a VPA needs. Not only have I just been on the several trips hosted by CAB, but I have also helped run SGU events such as Moonlight Breakfast, Glowcade, and Leo Love Week. Being apart of both Senate and the Activities Committee has exposed me to CAB and SGU events behind the scenes, showing me just how much time, effort, and dedication is required to put these events on and ensure that they run smoothly. After shadowing our current VPA and helping run some these events, I truly feel as if I’d be a great fit for this position.

Why do you want this position and what/who inspired or motivated you to run?

I really want this position so that I can help in organizing fun events both on and off campus for students and staff! The current VPA, Morgan Wagner, inspired me to run for this position by showing me that age is just a number and that just because you aren’t a senior, that doesn’t mean you can’t hold a big office position or be a well-respected leader on campus. SGU positions are all about what you make of it and how dedicated you are to your role. After watching Mo hold a leadership position over the past year and be so successful at it, I’d really like to follow in her footsteps and make an impact of my own.

What do you hope to accomplish and how do you plan to accomplish these goals in your position?

I hope to establish a schedule full of fun-filled events both on and off campus for our students to enjoy while working within the budget! I plan to accomplish this goal by working alongside the CAB committee who each have their designated role in the event planning process and by not just being a leader but also a team player. I’d strive to be someone they respect and someone that they’d be more than happy to work alongside with.

What would your first action in office be, if you are elected?

My first action in office would be to sit down with Morgan, the current VPA, and gain some more knowledge about the VPA position from her in order to succeed in my role as VPA 2018-2019.
