On Oct. 30, the entire campus was abuzz with spirited students and staff celebrating “A Day for Saint Leo.” This year’s event kicked off Homecoming week and featured multiple t-shirt drops, a selfie station, and a Phonathon.

The event was hosted by members of Alumni Engagement and Sustained Giving. Regina Belvin, the department’s Assistant Director, wanted this special day to bring both students and arriving alumni together.

“The purpose of this event is to celebrate the Saint Leo community with our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends,” said Belvin. “Since the event is social media based, everyone can participate no matter where they are on that day. This is especially important since our 90,000 + alumni are in every state and 76 countries.”

According to Belvin, the event was first held in 2014 in honor of Saint Leo’s 125 anniversary. “A Day for Saint Leo” will continue to grow and change in the years to come. Students can expect to see a lot more exciting activities with each new installment.

“With Homecoming now in the fall, Day for Saint Leo really kicks off Homecoming Week,” concluded Belvin.  “We hope to continue to bring the two events together to inspire even more students and alumni to show their Saint Leo pride.”
